With Walmart in driver’s seat, Flipkart set to speed up hiring

NEW DELHI: Amid the headline-grabbing exits of Binny Bansal and others said to be leaving in his wake, Walmart-owned Flipkart has lined up an aggressive hiring spree that includes senior talent in domains such as supply chain management, technology, marketing, human resources and product. The company will also transfer employees from abroad so that the Indian business aligns with Walmart’s global processes, said headhunting firms.

The company confirmed that it was about to embark on an expansive recruitment drive.

“Flipkart is committed to growing ecommerce in India and particularly to innovating to get the next 200 million customers online! In line with that vision, we have aggressive growth plans in place and a large focus on getting top talent at all levels,” a company spokesperson said in an email. “Talent acquisition and grooming will continue to be in line with these plans, which we only see being accelerat ..

A Bengaluru-based headhunter is working on at least five searches on behalf of Flipkart for senior executives in areas such as supply chain, logistics, marketing and technology.

“Walmart wants Flipkart to attain the leadership position with no close competition in the ecommerce space,” said the search firm’s senior partner, who didn’t want to be named. “It is for this reason that they would not compromise on talent acquisition.”

Flipkart is known for hiring and retaining talent by offering fat pay cheques. According to search firms, there is no limit on salaries being offered.
