Asian Champions Trophy: India and Pakistan declared joint winners

Ten members of the Indian team, who were part of the Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) hockey tournament in Muscat on Sunday, arrived here on Monday to spend a few hours with music maestro A.R. Rahman.
India and Pakistan had shared the Asian Champions Trophy after their much-anticipated summit clash was abandoned due to heavy downpour.
‘A great moment’
The players were excited to share time and space with Rahman for a promotional shoot of the World Cup to be held in Bhubaneswar from November 28.
“It is a great moment for all of us. He is a musical legend. This is the first time I am working with him.
“I hope it will be a memorable one,” India goalkeeper P.R. Sreejesh told The Hindu.
Sharing his views on ACT, Manpreet said the fact that the team didn’t lose a match was a positive sign. “Moreover, we had two players — Sreejesh and Akashdeep Singh — who received the best goalkeeper and best forward awards. That is also a good sign,” said the 26-year-old.
On India’s chances at the World Cup, Sreejesh said the team was capable of reaching the final if it continues to play the way it is doing now. “Nevertheless, we have to keep [our hopes] it realistic. Winning, of course, will be a big thing. We need to work hard.
Manpreet said the team’s morale and confidence were on a high after the ACT.
