11 Bollywood debutants of 2018
2018 has probably seen more debuts than most other Bollywood years. It is a year of freshness for the cine-goers and movie mongers; the year has been a one with some dull performances but also some very promising new stars. Let’s take a look.
1. Jhanvi Kapoor: The first on our list is the daughter of the late super beauty Sridevi; Jhanvi Kapoor. Making a magnum opus under the Dharma banner Jhanvi Kapoor seems to be a promising actor who will carry the legacy that is bestowed upon her by her super MOM. The actor is much appreciated for her innocent looks and has become a style icon already for the youth. Though her acting reflects her lack of acting experience but there still is a certain sense of freshness that she brings to the screen.
2. Sara Ali Khan: Daughter of acclaimed actors Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh; Sara Ali Khan has a rather turbulent launch juggling between two films i.e Kedarnath and Simbaa. However now making her debut in Kedarnath paired opposite the talented Sushant Singh Rajput; the film has garner rave reviews for this star kid who has given a power-packed performance in the film despite being a debutant. Just like her contemporary Jhanvi Kapoor, Sara too is inspiring the millennial with her striking fashion choices.
3. Ishaan Khatter: He had already become the talk of the town as his appearances with half-brother Shahid Kapoor made him the centre of a lot of attention. However, with the release of his first film, Iranian director Majid Majidi’s ‘Beyond The Clouds’; Ishaan proved his mettle as a well-trained actor. His second release Karan Johar’s remake of the Marathi super hit ‘Sairaat’ has made people recognize him more than just another star kid.
4. Ayush Sharma: Married to superstar Salman Khan’s beloved sister Arpita Khan Sharma; Ayush was launched on the silver screen under SKF banner in the film LoveYatri. Though viewers loved the chemistry between the two debutants Zaira Wasim and Ayush Sharma, the film failed to make its mark felt on the box office. But all is not dull yet for the actor since he has already signed his second venture with Salman Khan.
5. Mouni Roy: The actor who has proven her acting skills time and again on the small screen right from her Kasuti Zindagi Kii days to her most recent stints in ‘Devon K Dev Mahadev’ and Naagin; made her big screen debut opposite Bollywood’s Khiladi; Akshay Kumar. The actor once again proved that she is in the true scenes a well-defined actress. The actor has already bagged another film in her kitty for the next year.
6. Karan Deol: The 3rd gen actor of the Deol family is all set to carry his legacy with his debut in Pal Pal Dil K Paas. The star kid is being launched by his macho-man father Sunny Deol, who is not only producing the film but also directing it. Papa Deol made his directorial debut with Ghayal Once Again, a sequel to his own hit Ghayal[1990]. Well, we can only hope that Karan does not crumble under the immense pressure of his legacy and entertains the family as greatly has his dad and the original Bollywood He-Man Dharmendra Deol.
7. Mithila Palkar: After making her presence felt in numerous web series like Girl In The City and Netflix’s Little Things; this petite beauty finally made her debut opposite Dulquer Salman in the rom-com Karwaan which also star’s Irfaan Khan. The movie was produced by Ronnie Screwvala and most certainly bought out the best in both the debutants.
8. Dulquer Salman: The actor who already has a strong footing down South; made his Bollywood debut alongside the Netflix’s Little Things actor Mithila Palkar in the travel comedy Kaarwan produced by Ronnie Screwvala. The actor sure made us understand the reason to his stardom in the south industry.
9. Banita Sandhu: This beauty from London has been essentially the face of many ad’s in the years like Vodafone and Double mint; made her Bollywood debut this year alongside the Judwaa 2 actor Varun Dhawan in the Soojit Sircar film ‘October’. Though the film failed to impact its audiences the movie and Banita’s performance gained immense reviews for her performance in the film. Though a dejected Banita is back in London saying that there is no exciting work for her at the moment; we are surely waiting for this petite Londoner to be back with another exciting project.
10. Utkarsh Sharma: This cute little Punjabi son of Sunny Deol in the blockbuster Gardar has grown up to become a man of intense looks. The actor made his Bollywood debut with Genius; the film that also stars the most talented Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Though the actor’s father; who also happened to be the director to this film, Mr. Anil Sharma; was quite confident of his son’s success the film tanked miserably at the box office and Utkarsh was passed out as a blink and miss launch of 2018.
11. Rohan Mehra: Another star kid who tried his luck in the glittery movie business is the son of the late actor Vinod Mehra who was a name to reckon with in the ’90s; is Rohan Mehra. The actor made his debut in the film Baazar opposite the likes of Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte and Chitrangada Sen. The film gained mixed reviews from the audiences but did little to boost the career of this new entrant in the film industry. Well, we wish Rohan with lots of luck and hope for better films to come his way!
